K.G.B. on GEEK TO ME

Elliott Serrano of Chicago Now’s GEEK TO ME blog recently caught up with Becky for a look behind K.G.B in his inaugural edition of ‘Wednesday Web Comics’- we’re flattered!

K.G.B. at SPX!

This Saturday and Sunday-

Hwan is at SPX in Bethesda, Maryland this weekend (along with Melissa DeJesus and Robin Ha), where she is reprezentin’ for our boyz in the K.G.B.! If you’re down there as well, be sure to check out the Free Stuff table to find a KGB ashcan, made with love especially for the Small Press Expo!

That said, I’m jealous of all of you who are attending.

K.G.B. (and Becky and Hwan!) at King Con in Brooklyn!

Hey guys, Becky here :)

This weekend marks Brooklyn’s first comic convention- KING CON- and of course myself and Hwan, along with our fellow Estrigious girl Mel, will be attending! We’ll have prints and comics, and of course- K.G.B. goodies! You can find us at Melissa DeJesus’s table, where we’ll probably be hanging out, but if you want to catch us together we’ll have a signing from 5-6PM on SATURDAY! I won’t be attending on Sunday, so this is a good chance to find us all in the same place. I’ll also be on the GRAPHIC NYC panel Saturday from 3-4PM as well.

Should be a good time! We hope you come out for this :)

Music Video Countdown #4: H.O.T., Git It Up!

For the next 4 weeks, we will be presenting you with the top four Korean music videos that totally inspired our K.G.B.! Be warned because the content of these videos are OUT OF THIS WORLD!

Such as the old-time classic Korean boy-band of the ’90’s, H.O.T. (High-five Of Teenagers):

Hip-hop, ballads, the apocalypse, babies and DEATH makes a cameo. The hair and costumes are amazing – only the Koreans have mastered the art of crazy hair. This is Korean 90’s music at its finest!

See you Wednesday for the start of Chapter 4!

Music Video Countdown #3: g.o.d., Observation

The countdown continues with our #3 video that stole our hearts and the ’90’s: g.o.d. (Groove Over Dose – not to be confused with THE GOD)

If you thought the last video was a classic, you might want to sit down to watch this one. Some of the finest choreography for you to feast you eyes on. One of the members directly inspired our little FATTY.

Sorry for the delay on the new K.G.B. page: technical difficulties prevented us from updating. See you Wednesday for the REAL start of Chapter 4!

Music Video Countdown #2: 1TYM, ONE TIME FOR YOUR MIND

Number Two is the one and only: 1TYM!!

How much did we love these boys? Why, one of us even had a poster of them hanging from her wall. The other sneaked into her brother’s room to sneak a listen to their album. WHAT’S THERE NOT TO LOVE?!!?

Music Video Countdown #1: Choi Chang Min (최창민) – Make Me a Hero (영웅)

I KNOW YOU ALL BEEN WAITING FOR THIS!!!!!

So apparently Choi Chang Min was the originally K-Pop pretty boy from the ’90s. When we first laid eyes on this video (courtesy of R.H., who we will not name as to not embarrass her), we knew this was IT. This video has been our inspiration all these years and now you can see why.

I still get goosebumps watching this.

Asian Rapper Movies over at the New York Asian Film Festival!

Dearest K.G.B. Readers:

Many apologies that we have not updated this site in awhile. Things has been busy for us lately but we hope to be putting up new pages up here soon!

For those who needs some Asian rapping-content to survive another week without new K.G.B. materials, the New York Asian Film Festival will be featuring two movies about Asian rappers and from the reviews out there, it’s going to be awesome!

8000 Miles

8000 Miles 2: Girl Rappers

They might not be Korean but it’s still the struggles of Asian musicians. So if you happen to be in NYC, I highly recommend not to miss this!

Until next time (with a comic update!),

-Hwan & Becky
